Children’s Mental Health Focus of 18th Children’s Issues Forum/Breakfast on Thursday, May 26th

This important breakfast event will be held on Thursday, May 26st from 8:00-10:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in South Kingstown (on Route 1 just north of the intersection with Route 138).

Children’s Mental Health is the theme of this year’s Forum. As usual, we have a provocative program planned. URI Psychology Professor Ellen Flannery-Schroeder will provide our keynote address on “Unravelling the Current Youth Mental Health Crisis: How to Foster Resilience Moving Forward.”

Dr. Flannery-Schroeder’s keynote will focus on the factors contributing to our current youth mental health crisis and concrete ways we can foster resilience and help youth gain the skills they need to address their anxiety and depression.

About our Speaker: Dr. Flannery-Schroeder’s research interests include the nature of anxiety & depressive disorders in children and adults; efficacy of cognitive-behavioral treatment & prevention programs for children at risk for anxiety; and parent training & the role of family factors in the onset, maintenance, & treatment of anxiety disorders.  She has dedicated her career to preventing and treating childhood anxiety.

See flyer for more details.

And, as has become our custom, we will honor a local “unsung hero” with our esteemed “Champion for Children Award”, as well as additional awards for Coalition “Community Change” agents.

The Children’s Issues Forum is a critical gathering for elected officials, town administrators, community leaders, service providers and educators.

Cost of breakfast is $30. Register and Pay for Breakfast online via Square.
