Youth Rock Concert Raises Funds for the Coalition

The United Music School hosted their 2nd annual Rock for a Cause 2‘, a charity band concert organized and performed by youth rock music lovers, on February 16th at the Knickerbocker Café in Westerly. The Washington County Coalition for Children was the chosen charity to benefit from this year’s concert, which raised $1,600.

Youth organizers for the event included:  Roan Doyle, Blake Gears, Jacob Harwood, Henry Preil, and Liam Young.  Liam spearheaded the effort as an Eagle Scout project for Troop 9 in Pawcatuck.  The youth received event guidance and mentorship from United Music School Director, Tom Foley, and Executive Director, Carly Callahan, as well as Sound Engineer Shawn Allen and Executive Director Mark Connolly, at the Knickerbocker Music Center.  Everyone is shown on the stage at the Knickerbocker Cafe presenting Susan Orban, Coalition Director, with a check for event proceeds.
