Youth Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training that teaches parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors and health and human services workers and any other citizen how to identify, understand and respond to an adolescent (ages 12-18) who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
Engaging teens in conversations about what they may be feeling or experiencing can be challenging. Having more adults in our community knowing how to approach these hard conversations and what they can say or do to help can be game changers for our youth. Every parent, everyone who works with teens, and everyone who has an adolescent in their life, could benefit from taking this practical, skills-based online course.
The 6.5 hour in-person course is being taught in a blended format with a 2-hour self study online and two 2.5 hour ZOOM sessions with an instructor. To inquire about other classes or to sign up contact Susan Orban at wccc@washcokids.org
See flyer for upcoming class on Thursday, June 19 & 26 from 6:00-8:30 PM.
