Children’s Mental Health Coalition’s Top Priority

Our nation’s current youth mental health crisis demands action.  The Coalition is doing just that.  In 2024 alone, the Coalition . . .

  • Organized a 2-part training for local early childhood educators on creative trauma sensitive/compassionate classrooms
  • Worked with local RI legislators to pass bills requiring commercial insurance coverage of Community Health Worker and youth mobile crisis services
  • Launched The Greatest 8™ Text Messaging Service in Spanish
  • Taught teenMental Health First Aid to the entire sophomore class at Narragansett High School
  • Partnered with Thundermist Health Center & Narragansett School System to provide teleBehavioral Health Services to middle & high school students during the school day 
  • Conducted 10 focus groups documenting the reflections of local youth about the factors impacting their mental wellness
  • Convened a 13-member Youth Advisory Council to develop the region’s first youth-driven ACTION PLAN for mental wellness
  • Held a Youth Mental Health Summit in May 2024 to unveil the youth ACTION PLAN and rally support for its implementation
